Talk to anyone in the asphalt industry and you’re sure to hear something about warm-mix asphalt. The industry, which already boasts having a product that’s 100 percent recyclable, now has something new to add, warm mix! The benefits from using warm mix asphalt are remarkable: lower fuel consumption, better work environment, increased hauling distances, and an extended paving season.
Although there have been several contractors in Iowa, alongside the IDOT, testing out the new mix on roadways, there hasn’t been much done with it commercially. That is until the LL Pelling, Co. decided it was time to try something different.
