As with many companies in our industry, our strength truly lies in our employees’ dedication to their work.An illustration of our employees’ commitment to their job is the numerous national and state awards we have received for paving excellence.  Driven to PerfectionThe L.L. Pelling Co. was started in 1949 with a handful of employees and has grown to 200 full-time and seasonal employees. The company features three HMA (Hot-Mix Asphalt) plants in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, and Marion producing the finest certified HMA and cold-mix. The desire for perfection in all projects is driven by four exceptional asphalt paving crews that are led by super- intendents who average over 25 years of experience. In addition, the L.L. Pelling Co. features three grading crews, two chip-seal crews and a portland concrete curb and flatwork crew. Fifty years of commitment to excellence and pride in workmanship has earned the L.L. Pelling Co. a reputation as one of Iowa's premiere paving contractors. Commitment To Excellence The L.L. Pelling Co. has worked hard to establish its reputation as a company committed to excellence on every project. This commitment was rewarded with the prestigious "Quality in Construction" award from the National Asphalt Paving Association (NAPA) for the 52 acre parking lot at the Coral Ridge Mall.  Pride In WorkmanshipThe paving crews of the L.L. Pelling Co. take tremendous pride in their work. They have been recognized by their peers in the Asphalt Paving Association of Iowa (APAI) with ten awards in the 1990's and over 20 awards in the last 15 years for outstanding workmanship on projects ranging from commercial parking, municipal streets, and highway and interstate paving. Leaders In Innovation The L.L. Pelling Co. has been an industry applications. Our state-of-the-art laboratory allows us to provide a hot-mix asphalt design specially suited for your application, and with the ability to monitor it on a daily basis. The use of full-depth asphalt designs (directly on a dirt sub-grade), concrete rehabilitation methods, including crack and seat and rubbilization, and the use of Superpave asphalt mixes set the L.L. Pelling Co. apart as an innovative leader in the Asphalt industry. |
